Alper Aydin ( Turkey )

In the performance “The Greatest Microbes” Alper Aydin is emphasizing the human being as a biological creature. The purpose of the project is to go beyond feelings and create interventions on every aspect involving the idea that the human is a realist discourse dominated by nature.

While graffiti usually relates political points of views, in this performance, graffiti is used to evoque the life of an artist which consists of microorganisms and can be compared to the life of a microbe. "The Greatest Microbes" does not imply having an ideology or a type of emotional form or political views, as microbes actually do not decide, choose sides, vote, or have feelings. Furthermore, microbes are everywhere. They are part of the human being and create life.

The metaphor of the microbe shows that the human being’s ego is not as important as it is exaggerated and emphasized.

Realized in the streets and trains of Berlin, the performance’s attempt is to ironically  express the experience of living as a microbe and to create a body that tries to separate itself from identities of race, language and religion.

The project will mainly use  spray painting, as imagined by the ‘Ecology’ author, Ernest Callenbach.
