Seeking moments of self-definition through literary and visual research, Josephine is considering the possibilities of finding silence, stillness and sound through images. Working through modes of self-portraiture, she is examining how photography and writing can function as temporal markers; how notions of the trace can be existent in images and sound; and how the body can become a site of discursive practice.
During her time at ZK/U she examined the intersections between notions of sound and the power of images, undertaking research into modes of deep listening. She worked on a series of image-based works - exploring notions of sound, self and score. She undertook a sound workshop, facilitated by William Bilwa Costa, which has influenced the production of digital sound scores, created at ZK/U and since leaving Berlin.
