Working computationally, Lee is building digital generative artworks with his coding library L5, as well as sound art projects.
Combining sound art, family oral history interviews, with painting and digital sketching, Lee is creating an interactive artwork that references his grandfather's sandwich shop, his father's childhood deli, and the merchant shops in fantasy genre RPG games into an unfolding speculative work. Less memoir than pastiche — this work is made in collaboration with family, open-ended and experimental rather than narrative.
In addition, Lee will be working on recording and performance projects combining field recordings, woodwind instruments and the modular synthesizer, solo and in collaboration. These works turn into soundtracks, concerts, sound installations, mixtapes, and online media. A selection of recordings will be placed online in a custom-built website to be completed during the residency.
