In his new body of work, Mass (2025-ongoing) Sel Kofiga employs gestural mediums like mark-making, singing, stomping and writing to interrogate Ghanaian vernacularisation, linguistic and dialectic pedagogies, where he incorporates mark-making, erasure, movement and repetition as gestural mediums to interrogate an expanded understanding of words, proverbs and sayings in our linguistic consciousness. The performance uses charcoal, chalk, ashes, gin, and black mass (a semi toxic substance used to power domestic batteries), as a base to examine how materials and bodies act on each other.
