Stemming from a critical consciousness of digital culture’s carbon impact, Cyrus will develop a series of images at ZK/U that spatially reimagine the internet in response to the climate crisis and demonstrate how struggles for digital justice and environmental justice are interconnected. Adopting the “counter-infrastructural” practices of Berlin’s Freifunk as a point of departure, the project reconfigures relations between landscapes, lifeforms, and technologies in order to prompt the formation of new digital habits that hold us accountable to one another and the environment.
