Ghost Art School haunts failing art institutions. It does this by analysing institutional failures and working out ways of providing what is missing. It is not really an art school, but instead based on the idea that we are all always learning. It is free for anyone to join. It refuses institutional funding. It develops its own original ways to fund and publicise itself.
The Secret Groundsman is an artist who makes work exclusively using football, and is a member of Ghost Art School. Their work sits beyond the usual reach of most art institutions, and as such is typical of the kind of work that Ghost Art School supports.
Ghost Art School will use its time at ZK/U to think about and test how to develop strategies that allow it to remain critical, and not be subsumed into institutional culture. It will test this through strategies of active community engagement.
