
The function of the dust of the Sahara in Europe is the opposite of that which it has in the Amazon; in Europe, Saharan dust spreads over the skies of Scandinavian countries, Central and Western Europe, and as many experts predict, it poses a risk to human health and can be considered a sterile and unfavorable shipment. Even if this may be biologically accurate, when it comes to a phenomenon that has opposite consequences on the other side of the Atlantic, we are reminded of the various socio-political and racial statements and prevention measures concerning migration and human movements, especially those of individuals originating from the Global South via the political right-wing discourses mostly disseminated in Europe.


This residency takes place as part of “لسة / not yet / still,” a regional project in the field of visual arts, initiated by the Goethe-Institutes in North Africa and the Middle East and implemented in cooperation with ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics.
