Accra-Berlin Connection - Laetitia “Lor” Nsoutou

Laetitia “Lor” Nsoutou ( Cameroon )

A multidisciplinary project exploring self-liberation through a conceptual music album and a graphic collage exhibition. Centered on the experience of an African woman navigating postcolonial, patriarchal and restrictive global systems, the work weaves personal and political narratives between sound and image.
The Album, a blend of various genres, featuring lyrics in English, French, Fang and Ghomala’, aims to address gender-based violence, intergenerational trauma, internalized oppression, colorism and restricted mobility among others.

Complementing this, the collage pieces made with archival material, newspaper textures, and layered media to explore rupture, memory and reassembly – suggest freedom as an ongoing process.

The project aims to reimagine manumission not simply as escape, but as redefinition : a reclaiming of identity, movement, and creative power beyond imposed mental, abstract or physical limitations.

This residency is funded by Musicboard Berlin GmbH.
