Darian Razdar: Mornig Poems (2023)

Darian Razdar

While at ZK/U Darian will pursue research & creation for forthcoming projects involving poetry, foraging, printing, painting, photography, and book-making. Since 2017, he has built a creative practice around embodied field work, literary research, and material experimentation. Over his two months at ZK/U, Darian will play with a combination of creative processes feeding into book projects Edge Effects and Eye of Water set for publication in 2026-2027.

Edge Effects — Understandings of edges are vast, culturally defined, and reveal personal and political contentions: from borders and boundaries, to limits, ecotones, language, and the edges of desire between bodies. The edge is first and foremost a relation. It is the zone of interaction where one steps outside themselves and encounters the Other.

Eye of Water — In Persian the word چشم  (cheshm - “eye”) resembles the word cheshme (چشمه - “spring,” “fountain,” “source”) in both sound and script. The artist’s book will explore language’s entanglement with body and landscape, prioritizing ecology, field work, and slow craft focused on the area of the artist’s hometown Syracuse, New York.
