During a two-month residency at the ZK/U, the artistic research project "Preußenrenaissance OST" explores the historical prerequisites for Prussian reconstruction architecture in Berlin Mitte and its right-wing appropriation. To this end, the re-erection of the equestrian statue of Friedrich II on Unter den Linden by the former GDR in 1980 will be analysed as a symbolic political sign in the urban space. Based on the artist's own East German origins, the aim of the project is to investigate a nationally-orientated backlash for the late cultural-political phase of the former GDR and its shared responsibility for the current appearance of Berlin Mitte.
