Marcel Hörler

What significance do memories hold when they clash with personal desires? How can a place be reclaimed, and to what extent does secrecy shield against oppression? Die Haube is an art film project by Marcel Hörler, blending autofiction with themes of coming-of-age, fantasy, and mystery, exploring idylls, pain, and a longing for nature. Inspired by Didier Eribon’s thoughts on the discomfort of belonging to two different worlds, the project reflects Marcel’s intention to create space for contemporary narratives within traditional frameworks. A stay at the Andreas Züst Library marked a brief return to a rural environment from his past, now a mental exclave. Together with a group of cultural practitioners, Marcel will develop a script for the film, set to be realized in summer 2025 in Appenzell, Zurich, and Berlin.
