woven echoes-mapping silence - Roda Abdalle

Roda Abdalle

Roda's work at ZK/U focuses on exploring the intersections of sound, space, and textiles. Through engaging with the city’s soundscapes and the silent spaces in between, Roda seeks to move beyond their previous themes and delve into new areas of artistic inquiry. Bringing older textile works into this fresh environment, Roda plans to reimagine them by incorporating found materials and everyday objects, examining how the relocation might modify the patterns, textures, and scents tied to these pieces. The project not only reflects a commitment to ecological sustainability by repurposing previous works but also investigates how transformations over time affect memory and connection. Through this residency, Roda intends to study how these evolving materials might map a personal search for belonging, continuing their exploration of the relationship between language, space, and the tactile qualities of textiles.
