AndersErinnern is a collective remembrance process at Haus der Statistik honoring the lives of former residents of the Gerlachstraße 18/21 Jewish senior home in Berlin and their fates at the hands of the National Socialists. The ongoing process is a collaboration with present-day Berliners, neighbors of the site, and institutional stakeholders.

In the tradition of the counter-memorial and with a critical eye to remembrance practices and cultures, Stein is working with this team to integrate a lasting remembrance process into the redeveloped building which will stand where the senior home was. Previous stages of the project have included on-site audio installations, collaborative research workshops, community meals, street closures and ground-plane mapping, archival information displays, data visualizations, and more.
