As one of the first Detroit-Berlin Connection residents visiting ZKU on behalf of Musicboard Berlin, Zac Bru conducted extensive field research pertaining to techno music during his time in the city (which is to say, lots of partying). A primary focus was gaining a deeper understanding of Detroit's "electronic mind control music” and its effect on the culture of Berlin for the past 30 years, but Zac’s inspiration was found broadly across artistic disciplines, including visual arts, architecture, and several trips to the Philharmonie to hear classical and new music. This fresh inspiration and understanding about the musical sisterhood between Detroit and Berlin certainly had a lasting influence on Zac’s performances and musical output.
