I am addressing the discussion of what is still authentic nowadays and how can reality be portrayed with the means of graphic design, since it is not anymore an encoded practice with specific tools and platforms; the line drawn between it and visual art is now thinner than ever.
By documenting an underground reality, I am just scratching the surface maintaining its status of grass-root movement or exposing it to the outer world and transforming it into something commercial? While focusing on subcultures I would like to discover what are the boundaries of design – used as a documentary tool – and aesthetic journalism (shifting from the area of news media to the one of art).
