Project at ZK/U - Mark Dudiak

Mark Dudiak ( Canada )

I am working on new sculptures at ZK/U that describe a sense of travelling through an urban space congested by communications technologies and desire. These works employ the language of late modernist steel sculpture and urban fence design to delineate physical space. Imagine long, free-standing structures consisting of steel pickets and wire mesh composed according to the formal strictures of Anthony Caro or Umberto Boccioni. These structures serve as armatures upon which a variety of small sculptural elements evocative of half read advertisements, text messages, street directions or the glance of a potential lover will be arranged. Together these elements will evoke intangible, fleeting moments of subjective urban space.
