Moabees
A Pilots Project
Ongoing
Honeybees are artists and architects. They are socialists, democrats, monarchists, are gourmets and dancers, pilots and fighters*. In the bee art project Moabees, children and artists develop new perspectives on honey bees in the city and their products honey - wax - and pollen. *The drones are included in the female spelling.
Moabees is a group of artists and beekeepers founded by Elisa Dierson, Bärbel Rothhaar and Katja Marie Voigt at ZK/U in 2013. Moabees develop artistic perspectives on honeybees in urban society.
In our workshop formats, practices from the fields of beekeeping, current bee research, architecture and the imagination enter into synergies. Long-standing cooperation partners include the Moabiter Ratschlag with the Moabit School Garden and the Kunst Werk Stadt Berlin association.
Moabees is a project by Elisa Dierson, Bärbel Rothhaar, Katja Marie Voigt and has been funded since 2013 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the programme Kultur macht Stark - Künste öffnen Welten of the BKJ. It is supported by Kunst Werk Stadt Berlin e.V. in cooperation with KUNSTrePUBLIK. The Moab Beekeeping has been run by beekeepers Elisa Dierson and Katja Marie Voigt since 2012. The apiary, the headquarters of Moabees, is registered with the veterinary office through Kunst Werk Stadt Berlin e.V..
