Sumugan Sivanesan is an anti-disciplinary artist. His research based practice is often collaborative, seeking to cross disciplines, genres, cultures and borders. Most recently he has produced a series of performance-lectures and discursive events in art and academic contexts, to present a decolonial critique of the current events via a reading of history, politics, theory and fiction. He is particularly interested in the politics of migration, citizenship and sovereignty with specific reference to the experiences of the Tamil diaspora following the conclusion of the war in Sri Lanka, 2009.
