Sibongile Oageng Msimango

Sibongile Oageng Msimango is a dynamic writer, researcher and translator based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her work explores the complexity and nuances of language where she uses writing as a tool to navigate oral, written and/or visual text. She interrogates the paradigm of remembering through spatial politics, archival material, race, gender and socio-linguistics, and how it is informed by and perpetuates power relations. More recently, she is interested in investigating how social and economic impact can be created through building a relationship between spatial development, policy and social sustainability within the context of the creative and cultural industry. She has co-curated solo exhibitions Middle Centre (2019) by photographer Kgomotso Neto alongside Sam Goldblatt as part of the Underline Show and public exhibition at Bree Taxi Rank, Johannesburg; as well as The Grass Is Green (2019) by photographer Saki Zamxaka alongside Lawrence Lemaoana at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg.
