Pia Schauenburg

Pia was born in 1977 and is a cologne based artist. In 2006 she received her diploma (M.F.A) from the the University for Art & Design in Linz, Austria. Since 2010 she is enrolled in the postgraduate program of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Pia Schauenburg always addresses socially relevant aspects in her conceptual installations. At the beginning there is a study, an artistic system analysis, which often reveals social functional connections such as migration routes vs. tourism streams or the notion of home. In her recent projects she focus on the mechanisms of inclusion / exclusion concerning language, communities, cultural identity or symbols of a state such as a national anthem.
