Mauro Espíndola is currently investigating the human nature in its psychological, ethic and cultural aspects. He has been researching processes of memory and developing poetic reflections about it through sketch books, paintings, drawings, installations and videos. He is one of the founding artists of Durex Contemporary Art, an art space active from 2003 to 2011, at the Tiradentes Square, in the center of Rio de Janeiro. Working in partnership with other galleries, institutions, artists and collectives, Durex was responsible for giving visibility to the work of several artists based in Brazil and abroad, and had an important role in strengthening the art scene in the center of Rio de Janeiro.
