Mario Ego-Aguirre is a Miami-based artist that blurs the boundaries between art and utility in a way that defies traditional categorizations. Since 2019, his sculptural practice aims to revive an experience that was once ordinary, but is now moving quickly into the digital world - the act of fixing and making things. Under the moniker of “Tangent Studio,”  Ego-Aguirre’s furniture, tool boxes, bags, and clothing exist as sculptural entities, while at the same time, retaining their functional utility. His creations are a harmony of form and function, seamlessly intertwining cultural histories and practicality. Above all, these objects become advocates for artistic expression, mindful consumption, and the potential for creative autonomy.
