Jamie Denburg Habie ( Guatemala )
Jamie Denburg Habie is a Guatemalan artist and cultural practitioner based in Antigua, Guatemala. Her work explores relationships between human, mineral, animal, and celestial bodies to challenge human-centered narratives and reveal synergies across systems. Drawing on neuroscience, meditation, somatic practices, and ecology, she creates participatory works that use guided perception, breath, and movement to explore the body as a site of knowledge, regulation, and relationality, cultivating embodied experiences that reconnect participants to themselves, others, and the territories they inhabit.
At ZK/U, she explored therapeutic applications for her ongoing project Seeing Breathing—an artistic framework in which works function as scores to guide perception, breath, and movement. Building relationships with researchers, clinicians, and healthcare institutions, Jamie laid the foundations for future collaborations bridging art, science, and medicine. She presented this research during OPENHAUS and concluded the residency with Annotations for the City Body, a performance inviting participants to reshape their relationship to the city, themselves, and one another through choreographic scores.
Denburg Habie is co-founder of La Nueva Fábrica (est. 2013), a nonprofit contemporary art center and residency program in Antigua, Guatemala. Through exhibitions, residencies, public programs, and international partnerships, the organization fosters artistic experimentation, critical dialogue, and exchange across the Americas and beyond. She graduated from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she focused on art in conflict-affected cultures and developed her interdisciplinary practice.
