During her residency at ZK/U, Jinyoung Kim has focused on learning about modern housing estates around Berlin. Her research draws connections between South Korean housing developments from the 1960s - 1980s to Berlin's modern housing estates, based on their urban planning and materiality. Her work looks into those sites as a potential third space where cultural and sensorial memories could intersect, eventually contributing to building a sense of place and a semblance of home without attachments. She has produced and directed a short film during the residency that engages with the locations of modern housing estates around Berlin.
