Ken Aicha Sy

During her stay at the ZK/U, Ken Aicha Sy worked on her research on Senegalese visual artists after independence (1960-1990), in the context of cultural policy at the time but also their relationship with Germany.

She investigated the friendly and professional relations, between the visual artists and art institutions in Senegal and certain institutions in Gernmany. In particular museums such as Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt and the Iwalewahaus in Bayreuth etc.

During the residency, Ken Aicha was able to meet with curators working for these institutions as well as with other Berlin-based art specialists with expertise in the subject.

The mentor of this residency is Alya Sebti.
