Pablo Santacana López ( Spain )

During his resindecy at ZK/U, Pablo Santacana developed a first draft for IPER, a fictitious institution for artistic research devoted to contemporary methods of immersive historical reconstruction and collective reenactment in public space. Social practices of softcore historicism redefine the ways in which historical narrations are constructed and perpetuated by popular culture and performed heritage.

IPER proposes a broader definition of reenactments as immersive reconstruction that work as soft-power, but also throgh soft and experientable reproductions of the past that deal with the sensual and the affective. How do reenactments work as spaces of radical negativity towards present conflicts? What is the role of immersive historical reconstructions in the validation of debiased narratives and fictive historicisms? What is the soft power of embodied historicism? IPER want to serve as a research platform fgrom where to drive future projects and collaborations dealing with topics of performative heritage and embodied memory. IPER is the acronym for Institute for Para-Enactment Research, and has born from Pablo Santacana's phd dissertation within the Research Group "Identity and Heritage" at the Bauhaus Universität Weimar and the Fachhochschule Erfurt.
