Gul Kacmaz Erk ( Ireland )

Dr Gul Kacmaz Erk is a researcher in residency at ZK/U who works on a Berlin book project with Florida-based architectural historian Dr Christopher S. Wilson. The working title of the book is Remembering Berlin: Visualising Urban Strategies of Memory-making. The book covers the urban developments in the 20th century and studies how architectural and urban changes influence and shape urban memory in Berlin. In collaboration with Dublin-based filmmaker Paddy Cahill as well as Dr Wilson, she is also organising and tutoring a weeklong practice-based workshop open to all who are interested in the relationship between architecture and cinema. The target of the workshop is to make a short film within the boundaries of the city of Berlin. Berlin 2020 Filmmaking Workshop: Framing Urban Memory via Short Films is for individuals interested in filming architecture and the city.
