NASA LIE: Everyday Alienation - Andrew Wilson

Andrew Wilson ( United Kingdom )

The above text, over the last few years, has been scrawled across the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This graffiti is perhaps as throwaway as it is temporary. But perhaps not, perhaps it has something to tell us about how divided and alienated we have become, especially in our thinking.

Throughout the residency at ZK/U Andrew tested the assumption that, despite the vast spread of global inter-connectivity, we are socially severed and intellectually isolated from each other like never before. The practical shape of the residency unfolded via a rhythm of invitation, encounter, and production. Adopting the ‘NASA LIE’ graffiti as a starting point Andrew initiated appropriate avenues for formal and informal conversation such as interviews, meals, or workshops.
