Project at ZK/U - Alix Lucas

Alix Lucas ( France )

Perfection is at the center of every picture. Photoshop and filters are producing contents which are consensual and all alike. And which makes us feel self-concious about our own shots. For 'FAILED.', Alix Lucas displayed the best of her failed pictures. The pictures are technically wrong : blurry, out of frame, they almost become abstract. But they are diplayed in a huge format to give them a grandiose feeling. The trick works : these pictures create a really cathartic experience and the audience feels emotionaly connected with the pictures. The appearance of women in medias is often created through a male gaze. This fantasised femininity is nourishing many stereotypes. How can we challenge a heteronormative representation of women and give them space for self-expression?
