Project at ZK/U - Neele Hülcker

Neele Hülcker ( Germany )

At the moment I'm working on different projects in which I'm doing artistic research about the phenomenon ASMR.
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is a phenomenon that that appeared 2010 on youtube and keeps spreading since then.
ASMR describes a comfortable prickling in the head that is triggered by different sensory stimuli. Countless ASMR-trigger-videos and channels can be found in the internet today. Mostly made by women, but also by men. They speak silently and lovingly, touch objects, make role-playings in which eyes, ears or the head are examinated carefully, brush their hair for hours, eat or pet their cats and dogs. Essential seems to be the soundscape that is created: sensitive microphones intensify the sounds that are carefully made to create an intimate intense situation.
