Speisekino Moabit 2017 #12 / Food & Footage

∆ Film: ‘Tracing Urban Flows’ (Misc. with English Subtitles) and others

Join a series of short documentaries to trace the invisible flows that help to sustain contemporary urban life. Discover through 'Taste the Waste' how supermarkets keep their food fresh, how much of it is wasted and what is its impact on the environment. Follow the way how a tomato travels from the supermarket to the house and finally to the 'Isle of Flowers', a landfill in Porto Alegre (Brazil). Take a longer journey through the ocean with 'Chicken Madness' to understand the impact of exporting European food in Africa. Once there, experience the power of light -or its absence- in 'Dumsor: the electricity outages leaving Ghana in the dark'. Stay a bit longer to discover the final phase of the process: Engage with 'E-WASTELAND' in the electrifying experience of technical devices at the end of their life. Before going back home take some minutes to think: How “sustainable” are our urban lifestyles?

∆ Menü: Colorful Mashed Potatoes with Seasonal Veggies Picadillo, with optional chopped nuts sprinkled on top, accompanied by a tomato side salad and as a dessert chocolate brownie with wild berries sauce.
