Motohide Taguchi has been active as a composer of contemporary music since his composition “Dissolution” for trombone and piano was selected as one of the finalist pieces of the 16th Japan Society for Contemporary Music (JSCM) Award for young composers. Based on his rich knowledge of Japanese and Asian music, he has tried to utilize elements of those kinds of music in his works since his early works. Although he had been focusing on composing abstract instrumental pieces in his early career, especially in recent years, he has tried to expand his expressions to music making workshops with those without special musical trainings, sound installations, works related to social issues, and so on.
