On the ZK/U TerraceBienvenidos to the spanish evening enlivened by the hospitality of the spanish team of ZKU. Vente a Alemania, Pepe (Come to Germany, Pepe) is a popular spanish comedy from 1971. Telling us the misadventures of Pepe, a migrant worker from the countryside in search of the affluent Germany in the context of the last big wave of spanish migration, by then to Germany in stead of America, when Spain opened to development and Europe, and germans came to Spain as carefree tourist, discovering the food we will enjoy this evening, at present widely known. The spanish antihero, incarnated in the skin of the legendary actor Alfredo Landa, can be considered as the archetypic father of many of us who are coming once again to Germany moved by the same necessity, after years considering surpassed that Zeitgeist. Since the sixties, many meetings and bridges have been build between northern and southern Europe, between germans and spanish. The rural beret and bumpkin mentality of Pepe changed to academic degrees and global mood, but our fears and dreams remain.
