Catherine Ryan/Amy Spiers - Site Dedicated to the Active Effacement and Complete Disregard of History

On Thursday the 24th of January at 7pm, two Australian artists will unveil their gift to the German people: a temporary monumental space in which history can be deliberately effaced and ignored. Rather than casually building over the remains of yesterday, as is the usual practice, the site offers a sanctioned space where the burdensome past can be actively forgotten. Following its unveiling on Thursday night, the site will host a series of participatory actions from 2pm on Saturday the 26th of January. The ceremonies on the 26th are timed to coincide with Australia Day and so a traditional Australian sausage sizzle will be provided.
