OPENHAUS MÄRZ

Offene Studios, Performances, Videos, Installationen und Gespräche mit Resident*innen

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany

HOME TAXIDERMY

Mixed Media, 2018-2019

During her 5 months residency at the ZK/U, Heyne will build an interactive architectural installation, inspired by transformations of materials and building styles caused by migration and refuge between Europe and the Middle East. The interactive nature of the installation invites the viewers to experience the piece through their body.
Home Taxidermy looks at the attempts of individuals and communities to rebuild their homes in a new place, and asks questions about the possibilities of preservation and restoration in the context of home and identity.

MEMORY HOUSE: PLAY IN THE CITY

Installation (2019)

Helen King presents a new installation work entitled Memory House: Play in the City. Thiswork is inspired by King’s current research focused on urban green-space in Moabit, Berlin. Through the practice of walking, King has identified several areas of interest such as: Fritz Schloß Park, VolkPark and Ottopark. These spaces are a nostalgic reminder of King’schildhood and her interest in these spaces is underpinned by the academic works of thinker such as Aldo Van Eyck and Paul M Friedberg.

“If the child rediscovers the city,
the city will rediscover the child- ourselves”
Aldo Van Eyck, Collected Articles and Other Writings, 1960.

Memory House: Play in the City takes the form of King’s childhood Wendy House- a garden playspace, studio and hideout- and will feature photographs, drawings and writings. The installation is a device for recalling the memories of our childhood, to share these stories within the community and engage in a dialogue about the importance of urban green-space.

ANALOG PROCESSING LOOP

Live print processing with sound installation (2019)

Analog Processing Loop is a collaborative work by Pierpaolo Curini and Byungseo Yoo.
It consists of live photographic print processing with a live sound installation. For the piece, Pierpaolo will print pictures that are captured by a pinhole camera hand made by the artist. In conversation with the live print performance, Byungseo generates real time looped sounds using an analog reel to reel recorder.
